End the summer with a splash while making a difference in our community! Join Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Dominion Energy, PalmettoPride and our other 25+ event partners in our effort to clean up Lake Murray and other waterways in Lexington and Richland counties.
The 2024 Lake Sweep / River Sweep will be held the morning of Saturday, September 14 in support of SCDNR's and the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium's statewide Beach Sweep/River Sweep effort to clean waterways across our beautiful state.
Volunteers participating on September 14th are asked to choose one of following three check-in/out locations around Lake Murray:
- Southshore Marina in Leesville
- Rusty Anchor/Catfish Johnny's in Chapin (next to Lighthouse Marina)
- Dreher Island State Park in Prosperity
Volunteers may also...
- Participate with the Wateree Dive team if they are a certified diver.
- Pick up supplies from our office at 1305 Augusta Rd., West Columbia, SC 29169 and use them to remove litter from any unadopted waterway on our list of rivers, creeks, ponds, etc. in Lexington and Richland counties between Sep. 1 and 14 to be eligible for the event t-shirt and prizes.
Volunteers may choose to pick up litter...
- On land around any check-in location,
- On islands using your own boat,
- From islands with help from a free boat ride from one of our pontoon rental and tour companies (ONLY available from Southshore and Rusty Anchor),
- From beneath the water's surface if participating with a dive team.
- From any unadopted river, creek, pond, etc. in Lexington and Richland counties.
Volunteers who register by the Sep. 6 deadline will receive a t-shirt, thank you gift and entry for larger prizes from local businesses.
