Keep the Midlands Beautiful Welcomes New Executive Director
After an exhaustive search for a new Executive Director, the Board of Directors of Keep the Midlands Beautiful is pleased to announce that Laura Anne Hunt has assumed the duties of Executive Director. Laura Anne moved to Columbia, South Carolina to serve as the Housing Sustainability Coordinator at the University of South Carolina. She supervised the EcoReps program and Housing Sustainability Fellows. In her time at UofSC, she worked on reducing waste and improving recycling infrastructure within the Housing Department.
Laura Anne is originally from the shores of the Great Lakes where she developed her passion for environmental issues. She has numerous environmental and sustainability experiences from completing her dual Master’s degrees in International Sustainable Tourism in Costa Rica and Texas to serving as an Urban Forestry member in the GreenCorps. She has earned several awards for her work including Morris Community Service Award, Sustainability Champion, and National Tour Association Travel Leader.
Laura Anne is an animal lover who is passionate about fostering and rescuing animals and is the mother of three exuberant fur children; all of whom have been adopted from Midlands animal shelters. Laura Anne serves as the Fellowship Chair for the Columbia Habitat for Humanity Young Professionals (CHYP). She is passionate about volunteering and has been active in the community; volunteering where she can. Her volunteer activities include helping with sustainability education and affordable housing causes to helping animals find their forever home.
