Midlands Green Business Program

Thank you for your interest in keeping our community litter free, cleaner, and greener through your business practices.  Over the past several months, we, in conversation with Lexington County, Richland County and the City of Columbia have looked for ways to best serve your needs and provide resources that help you operate in a more environmentally responsible and sustainable fashion.

After much conversation, the decision was made to dissolve the MGB program.  While our organization will continue to partner with Lexington County, Richland County and the City of Columbia on recycling, litter prevention, outreach, and community events, we will no longer be participants or have a role in the MGB program. We’d like to direct you to either SC DHEC’s Smart Business Program or the Green Business Bureau.  Both are excellent resources that provide a variety of tools and services to assist your business in reaching its sustainable practices goals.

As Keep the Midlands Beautiful enters its 33rd year of service to the community, we welcome you to continue your relationship with our organization and join us as a corporate partner.  As a business owner, I’m sure you are aware of the manpower and costs associated with carrying out initiatives.  Fortunately, KMB’s low overhead and large reach allows us to deliver resources and services at a cost-effective rate; as evidenced by our ability to mobilize volunteers who removed over 90 tons of litter from our highways, waterways, and streets in 2021.

I know that together, we can make a huge difference.  Our corporate partners have the assurance that their support yields a direct return in the community.  Additionally, we have various incentives and ways in which we’d publicly show how much we appreciate your support.

If you would like to begin a partnership or discuss ways in which we can support your goals for employee engagement via volunteer opportunities, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 803-733-1139 or by email at egadson@kmbsc.org.

Regards,
