Landfill Ban on Electronics In Effect
As of July 1, 2011, residents may no longer throw away computers, computer monitors, televisions and printers with their household garbage. These items must be recycled. The legislation specifically says that residents “may not knowingly place or discard” a computer, computer monitor, printer and television “in any waste stream that is to be disposed of in a solid waste landfill.”
Lexington and Richland Counties have drop-off locations for recycling electronics and regularly offer one-day collection events. Continue scrolling or visit our calendar of events for dates of upcoming collection events. For more information about the electronics ban, visit the DHEC E-Cycle South Carolina.
