In 2025, we…

  • Provided supplies for 6,737 volunteers;
  • Were responsible for 817 litter pickup events;
  • Helped to remove 217,964 pounds of litter;

Beautification

In 2025, Keep the Midlands Beautiful is installing murals in several of the 19 municipalities that we serve across Lexington and Richland counties. To recommend a mural artist, public location for a mural, or to sponsor a mural for $3,500, contact programs@kmbsc.org.

Litter Prevention

In 2025, Keep the Midlands Beautiful recruited 6,737 volunteers who spent 16,841 hours removing 217,964 pounds of litter and 708 bags of recyclables at 817 litter cleanup events.

Recycling

Each year we provide six free paper shredding drop-off events for residents, we collect over 5,500 pairs of shoes for people in developing countries, we provide free recycling, trash, and cigarette containers for events, and we provide recycling education and presentations.

Complete this form at least ONE WEEK in advance to borrow free litter removal supplies including litter grabbers, safety vests, cloth gloves, and trash bags.

Submit a short report card after each litter pick-up to document the number of volunteers, hours spent and the number of bags of litter collected.  This helps us receive crucial funding to provide supplies for you at no charge.

Annual Shoe Drive! Donate Now!

Keep the Midlands Beautiful is hosting our annual shoe drive. Drop off shoes at the Keep the Midlands Beautiful office, located at 1305 Augusta Rd. in West Columbia.

Donations of new and gently used shoes of all types and sizes will support people in developing countries and Keep the Midlands Beautiful. Our shoe drive will be running through April 30, 2026.
